The Dynamics and Significance of Fluids within the Seafloor

چکیده

Fluids are present throughout Earth’s crust and act as a primary medium of exchange between Earth’s interior lithosphere and hydrosphere Flowing fluids carry enormous fluxes of energy magma and solutes be tween these reservoirs Fluids contribute to production of continental crust generation of explosive volcanism lubrication of plate boundary faults formation of hydrates and mineral resources and development and support of remarkable biological communities Fluids affect the properties of sediments and basement rocks through which they move and are stored as a result of diagenesis heat transfer and stress strain relations These strong couplings present challenges to resolving the roles of fluids as agents of change but have led to exciting scientific discoveries through ocean drilling

Sensitivity analysis of dependency of working fluid thermo-dynamics properties to temperature on performance of Gama-type Stirling engine

This research proposes the effect of temperature variation in the Prandtl number on the power, the efficiency and the heat loss of the Gama-type Stirling engine. It should be noted that the Prandtl number included the viscosity, the thermal conductivity coefficient and the specific heat at constant pressures of the working fluid, which the temperature dependency of such first two thermo-dynamic...

Nonlinear stability of rotating two superposed magnetized fluids with the technique of the homotopy perturbation

In the present work, the Rayleigh-Taylor instability of two rotating superposed magnetized fluids within the presence of a vertical or a horizontal magnetic flux has been investigated. The nonlinear theory is applied, by solving the equation of motion and uses the acceptable nonlinear boundary conditions. However, the nonlinear characteristic equation within the elevation parameter is obtained....

An Investigation of Abnormal Fluid Pressure within an Evaporitic Cap Rock in the Gavbandi Area of Iran and its Impact on the Planning of Gas Exploration Wells

A synthesis of well logs was carried out and drilling mud weight data were analyzed to figure out anomalous high fluid pressure within the Triassic evaporitic cap rock (the Dashtak formation) and study its impact on the geometry of anticlinal traps in the gas rich Gavbandi province located in the southeast part of the Zagros Mountains. The results indicated that the location of anticlinal traps...

Study Effect of Deformation Nanochannel Wall Roughness on The Water-Copper Nano-Fluids Poiseuille Flow Behavior

In the nanochannel flow behavior with respect to expand their applications in modern systems is of utmost importance. According to the results obtained in this study, the condition of nonslip on the wall of the nanochannel is not acceptable because in the nano dimensions, slip depends on different parameters including surface roughness. In this study, keeping the side area roughness, deformatio...

An Improved ISM Equation of State for Polar Fluids

We developed an equation of state (EOS) by Ihm, Song, and Mason (ISM) for polar fluids. The model consists of four parameters, namely, the second virial coefficient, an effective van der Waals co-volume, a scaling factor, and the reduced dipole moment. The second virial coefficient is calculated from a correlation that uses the heat of vaporization, and the liquid density at the normal boiling ...
